Safeguarding in Schools

As well as training Jane can also provide Safeguarding audits for all types of school, against Ofsted (or ISI) criteria (under section 175 or 157 of the Education Act 2002). These involve a visit to the school to meet with key staff and an audit of policies and procedures required. A written report to the school completes the process and allows schools to map progress against key areas.

For Multi-Academy Trusts, Jane is able to meet with the Academy Trust to look at overarching safeguarding policy and procedures and to provide any training (see Training Section) or Safeguarding Reflective Practice.

Jane is experienced in undertaking independent investigations in schools. These often stem from Allegations Management meetings where the school’s action is to complete a disciplinary investigation. They can also be required following a parental complaint about the handling of an incident in school, or after an incident of peer on peer abuse. Jane is able to provide unbiased advice to both school and parents, complete the investigation and present to any disciplinary or governing body panel as required.
