Jane Bee

ABOUT

Jane has worked in Safeguarding and Child Protection for 24 years, previously in a large Local Authority as the manager for Safeguarding in Education and Senior Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO).

Jane is experienced in training on all kinds of safeguarding subjects including; Whole Staff Safeguarding Training (adults and/or children), Allegations Management, the Prevent agenda (Home Office Accredited) and being prepared for terrorist incidents, Domestic Abuse, Child Sexual and Criminal Exploitation and Safeguarding Policies. Jane is an accredited Safer Recruitment trainer (NCTL accredited), also advising on required associated policies such as Acceptable User Policy and Safer Working Practice.

Jane chaired the SW Safeguarding in Education Group for over 10 years. She also worked managing allegations of abuse against members of staff and volunteers as LADO for 12 years and chaired the SW LADO group for 8 of these. Jane was elected the first National LADO Network Chair in 2016 and remains an Associate Member of the Network. She now carries out investigative work either following the LADO process or where an allegation does not meet threshold for multi agency work. Jane previously worked as Head of Investigations for Globis Mediation.

Accredited by the Social Care Institute for Excellence (SCIE), Jane is also a lead reviewer for Child Safeguarding Practice Reviews across the country. She is the chair of the Gloucestershire Gateway Partnership (GGP) Board, National Safeguarding Partner for the Schools’ Enterprise Association (SEA) and Home School Tutoring UK, and a consultant for Thirtyone:eight.

Jane has a Post Graduate Certificate in Child Protection, a 1st Class Honours Degree in Psychology and a Diploma in Health and Social Welfare. She also holds a Certificate in Psychodynamic Counselling, all of which Jane draws on within her work.

Jane has been the Director of Jane Bee Safeguarding Ltd for 8 years and works across the country and abroad, most recently in Kenya.

  • What will this mean for those working with children - what should we have in place in the meantime?

Suitable for settings from any agency (education, early years, children's therapeutic care providers, charities, faith groups etc.) Using the latest legislation the course covers:

  • What statutory guidance and overarching legal Framework are we working to? 
  • What knowledge beyond the basics are you required to have? (including knowledge of multi-agency processes) 
  • What processes are you responsible for in your setting as the DSL and how does this fit with statutory agencies and inspection?
